About Travelogic

Travelogic is an established South African software company specialising in technology solutions for the tourism and travel industry.

We are currently expanding our next-generation cloud-based, web version of Travelogic, and we are looking for a talented and motivated Junior to Mid-Level Web Application Developer to join our development team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a developer who wants to be involved in building a modern SaaS platform from the ground up, working with current web technologies and contributing to a product used by tour operators and travel businesses.

The Role

As a Web Application Developer, you will work as part of our development team to design, develop, maintain and enhance components of our new web-based Travelogic platform.

You will be involved in both backend and frontend development, working closely with our Lead Ddeveloper and Management to develop new functionality, improve existing features and ensure that the application is reliable, scalable and user-friendly.

We are looking for someone who has a solid foundation in C# and .NET development, combined with an interest in modern web application technologies.

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate must have practical development experience with:

C# – solid development experience is essential
ASP.NET Core – web application/API development
SQL Server – database development, queries and data management
React – frontend development
DevExtreme / DevExpress – experience working with DevExtreme React components would be highly advantageous
Docker – experience with containerised applications and development environments
Git – source control and collaborative development
Advantageous Experience

Experience with any of the following would be an advantage:

PostgreSQL
RESTful API development
Entity Framework Core
Azure / Microsoft Azure
CI/CD pipelines
Automated testing
Authentication and authorisation
Responsive web application development
Cloud-based SaaS applications
Experience working in an Agile development environment

You do not need to be an expert in every technology listed above. We are particularly interested in someone with a strong C#/.NET foundation who has experience with, or a strong aptitude for learning, the rest of our technology stack.

Your Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

Developing new functionality for the Travelogic web platform
Developing and maintaining ASP.NET Core services and APIs
Developing user interfaces using React and DevExtreme
Working with SQL Server and potentially PostgreSQL databases
Writing efficient and maintainable database queries
Investigating and resolving software defects
Participating in code reviews
Working with Git and our development/build processes
Working with Docker-based development and deployment environments
Assisting with testing and troubleshooting
Collaborating with the existing development team on architecture and technical solutions
Contributing ideas towards improving the product and development process

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Relevant IT / Computer Science qualification or equivalent practical development experience
Demonstrable experience developing applications using C#
Junior to Mid-Level development experience
A good understanding of software development principles and object-oriented programming
